On average, our patients are seen by a provider in just over 30 minutes. Our highly trained and efficient staff is committed to your prompt and thorough treatment.

Regional is part of the area's first network of accredited Chest Pain Centers, a Joint Commission-certified stroke center, a verified Level II Trauma Center and the only Bay Area helipad certified by the Coast Guard for Blackhawk-grade air ambulance landing.

In November 2005, was named Best Emergency Department of the Year by California Emergency Physicians (CEP), the largest provider of physician staffing for comprehensive management emergency departments state California. Our Emergency Room consists of a caring, well-trained medical team of emergency physicians, nurses and support staff. With a total of 39 beds, Regional’s ER treats an average of 165 visitors in a 24-hour period seven days a week – That’s over 65,000 patients annually.

Rapid Medical Evaluation
We are committed to providing our patients the best medical treatment as quickly as possible. That’s why in 2005 Regional implemented the Rapid Medical Evaluation (RME) program in our Emergency Room. The primary objective of RME is to dramatically reduce patient wait times. Since the program was implemented, our wait times have decreased by 15%.

Important Notification about Urgent Care Clinic: On July 26, 2006, Regional Medical Center of San Jose transferred Urgent Care Clinic services into our Emergency Room. This effort helps Regional continue to provide rapid, high quality care to our patients. With our Emergency Room’s successful implementation of the Rapid Medical Evaluation (RME) program last year, Regional has dramatically reduced our patient wait times and length of stay, while providing a high level of patient care.

Although our hospital Emergency Room services do not replace the care of your primary care physician, we offer an alternative for illnesses or injuries that simply cannot wait for treatment. In addition, our highly-skilled emergency staff is committed to providing each patient the best care possible.
